iROCKER ALL-AROUND 10′ Review: SUP Overview

While the company’s original iROCKER SPORT 11′ model was popular, a lot of people wanted a wider paddle board for more stability. iROCKER then introduced the All-Around 10′ and All-Around 11′ whose 32 inch width provided the more steady based and greater confidence that was exactly what many of the company’s customers were looking for.

This board performs well in a variety of water conditions and is stable enough that it could be used for SUP fishing and fitness by some paddlers although the wider iROCKER CRUISER would be a better choice. While not the fastest board on the water, it glides nicely, tracks well, and is definitely fun to paddle. For those seeking even greater stability, we’d recommend checking out the 33 inch wide iROCKER CRUISER, 34 inch wide BLACKFIN Model XL, or 35 inch wide Model X.

Nose D-Ring

The nose of the board features a D-ring for tethering the SUP to a dock and a grab handle that’s handy for maneuvering the board around in the water. Behind these is a generously sized 6-point bungee cord storage area that is perfect for stashing a backpack or dry bag, Crocs, and other gear. The attachment points are pushed toward the rails to maximize capacity.

iROCKER also includes neoprene wrapped kids’ safety handles on the sides of the front and rear cargo areas. If you happen to have small children that like to ride along on the nose of the board, this feature is wonderful as it gives the kiddos a safe and secure place to hold on to. They’ve also made these removable which is nice for paddlers who don’t find them particularly useful. This is a great feature that we wish more brands included; GILI Sports has just started including them on some of their boards this season.

The top of the ALL-AROUND 10′ features a deck pad with a comfy iROCKER logo grip pattern that’s easy on the hands and feet (this is good news for SUP fitness fans). There’s also a carry handle mid-board that’s covered by a comfortable neoprene cover. While the carrying handle does have a nice low-profile, we wish the neoprene cover was removable which would make it even more comfortable to sit or lay on.

Located along the sides of the pad are 8 stainless steel D-rings for attaching iROCKER’s kayak seat and shoulder carrying strap. You can also use these as tie-down points for securing your SUP cooler or bringing along additional gear.

Added in 2020, iROCKER has loaded the ALL-AROUND 10′ with 4 action mounts which can be used to attach GoPro cameras, fishing rod holders, iROCKER’s waterproof Bluetooth speaker, and more. There are two mounts integrated into the front bungee area and two mini mounts near the tail.

At the tail of the Teal board is a rear 6-point bungee storage area, that also includes child safety handles. This second cargo area is particularly convenient if you have a ride-along passenger sitting on the front of your board. There’s also a rear grab handle, D-ring for attaching your SUP leash, and a high-quality inflation valve.

On the underside of the ALL-AROUND 10′ is a triple fin setup with two small side fins and a large center fin. The fins use the convenient toolless lever-lock system that is now standard on all iROCKER SUPs. We like the fact that all three fins are removable as it allows you to roll the ALL-AROUND 10′ up into a smaller form for easier packing, storage, and transport. Additionally, if you happen to rack multiple boards on the roof of your vehicle, having the ability to remove all three fins allows you to stack the boards in a much neater fashion.

Advanced paddlers will also appreciate the ability to configure their board with only a single center fin or all three fins depending on water conditions and personal preference.

Construction

In 2020, all of iROCKER SUP’s mid-range boards transitioned to a lighter triple-layer PVC composite construction from their previous quad-layer construction. They now share the same construction as iROCKER’s premium BLACKFIN lineup, although the BLACKFIN SUPs also include carbon fiber reinforced side rails.

Paddling Performance

Performance-wise, the new ALL-AROUND 10′ performs exactly like last year’s model. This versatile stand up paddle board is fun in the water and it offers typical stability for a 32 inch wide all-around SUP.

For beginners or those who prioritize stability, we’d recommend checking out the 33 inch wide iROCKER CRUISER for an extra bit of confidence without giving up much in the way of performance. For those looking for the ultimate cruiser board check out the 34 inch wide BLACKFIN Model XL, or the 35 inch wide Model X.

The ALL-AROUND 10′ also tracks reliably and while it’s not the fastest board around, it doesn’t feel sluggish. Its weight remains unchanged from last year since its construction remains unchanged. Interestingly, at the same time we’re seeing companies like NIXY and THURSO introducing woven drop stich and other technologies that allow them to shave several pounds off their boards’ weights resulting in SUPs that feel a bit more responsive in the water.

A note on length: we’ve received a lot of questions recently from smaller or shorter paddlers reading or receiving advice implying that essentially they might have problems if they get a board that’s too long. We think this advice is usually getting it backwards. Larger or taller paddlers should be careful to not get too short of a board. However, shorter paddlers can do just fine on an 11 foot long board. In fact, our recommendation would be that if you’re not sure (or if you plan on having passengers, carrying gear, or sharing your board with others) you’re better offer getting an 11 foot board than a 10 foot board as the more versatile option.

Suitable for beginners and experienced paddlers alike, the ALL-AROUND 10′ is a jack-of-all-trades that is a great general purpose recreational board. It is a good choice if you place a high value on versatility.

Inflation and Setup

Inflating and setting up the iROCKER ALL-AROUND 10′ is extremely easy and takes approximately 10 minutes, depending on how quickly you pump the board up.

After removing the strap which keeps the board neatly folded up, just roll the board out, twist off the cover, insert the hose, and lock it into place with a twist. It’s important to make sure that the stem is in the “Up” position when inflating, as this allows air to enter the board while preventing it from escaping.

The pump that comes with the ALL-AROUND 10′ has a built-in pressure gauge, and you won’t really see the needle move until you get to about 7 PSI. Start pumping with the pump in mode 1, then switch it to mode 2 and ultimately mode 3 as you encounter more resistance. After pumping the board up to the recommended pressure of 14-18 PSI, just twist the hose and disconnect it from the board’s valve.

Last but not least, flip the board over and attach the fins.

Deflation

Deflating and packing up the ALL-AROUND 10′ is also a quick and easy process. First of all, make sure that you rinse the board off well with fresh water if you’ve been paddling in salt water. It’s also a good idea to give the board a quick wipe down at this point to dry it off.

Next, unscrew the valve cover and push in the valve stem for 2 or 3 seconds (warning, things get a little loud here as air escapes from the high-pressure valve). Wait a few more minutes for air to escape, then just roll the board up starting at the nose.

After the board is completely rolled up, position the included strap around the middle of the board and tighten it up to keep the board compressed. The board will now fit neatly into the included carry bag along with the rest of your gear.

Portability

Another area where this SUP board really shines is portability. As we already mentioned, it weighs in at 24 pounds and neatly packs up into the included carrying pack, making it incredibly easy to store and transport.

Carrying the All Around 10's bag on grass.

You can literally bring this paddle board with you anywhere. You can throw it on the roof rack of your car or into the backseat or trunk of any vehicle or ATV. You can even check it with your luggage when flying.

When not in use, the iROCKER ALL-AROUND 10′ slides neatly under your bed or into a closet.

Our Impressions: Likes and Dislikes

We’ve recommended the ALL-AROUND 10′ to a lot of paddlers since the model’s introduction several seasons ago and the latest version is even better than before. iROCKER has added some nice tweaks this year which have further enhanced the board’s versatility.

For paddlers who like to customize their boards with accessories, there are few brands that offer more action mount points than iROCKER (with the possible exception of their premium brand BLACKFIN and the new NIXY boards). iROCKER also offers an extensive range of compatible mountable accessories from fishing rod holders to beverage holders, to goPro mounts and coolers. They have it all.

We also really like the removable child safety handles — something few brands offer — the copious number of D-rings for attaching gear, and the generous cargo space. It’s clear that iROCKER is focused on making their boards as versatile as possible while keeping them affordable.

A man carrying the pink board out of the ocean.

In terms of negatives, there are no showstoppers. If we could borrow some ideas we’ve seen elsewhere, we wish the bungee cords were removable – an innovation we’ve seen on a few boards recently. Also, while the center carry handle lays pretty flat as-is, having the ability to remove the neoprene cover entirely would make it slightly more comfortable for activities such as SUP fitness.

Finally, as mentioned above we’re starting to see a trend toward newer, lighter construction technologies in higher end boards. We expect to start to see that showing up in midrange boards in future years, which iROCKER will have to keep pace with to stay competitive.

Accessories: What’s Included

2021 iROCKER All Around 10' Accessories Overview

Included with the 2021 ALL-AROUND 10′ is a new roller SUP backpack with tons of zippered pockets, a 3-piece upgraded carbon fiber travel paddle, double-chamber Full Throttle Pump, inflatable paddle board repair kit, 10 foot color-coded coiled SUP leash, sticker pack, quick start guide, and user manual.

Roller Backpack

iROCKER has completely revamped its iSUP bag for 2021 with a new roller backpack that is color-matched to the SUP and still contains tons of storage pockets.

On the front of the backpack are nylon-webbed compression straps and a bungee cargo net for securing a towel or jacket. There’s also a large zipper pocket for storing accessories.

On both sides of the bag are carry handles and open mesh pockets for stowing the travel paddle or they can be used for additional storage. Behind the mesh pockets are small zipper pockets for securing loose items.

The top of the bag features a see-through luggage ID window. Also located at the top of the back of the bag is a zippered pocket designed to hold the company’s new compact electric pump.

The rear of the backpack features another nylon-webbed grab handle as well as two padded shoulder straps. They are fully adjustable and have a stabilizing sternum strap and plastic D-rings for securing accessories.

The back of the pack features a padded back cushion that’s covered by a breathable mesh material to keep things cool when it’s on your back. There’s also an adjustable padded waist belt for additional stabilization.

The biggest addition for 2021 are the wheels on the bottom of the bag. The two large wheels have large tread on them so that they roll well on both hard surfaces and soft. The bag’s bottom is also well reinforced with a hard material to protect the contents and provide stiffness to the bag while rolling.

The included backpack makes it super easy to carry your deflated board around and you can even throw it in with your checked luggage when flying.

Paddle

iROCKER’s three-piece floating SUP paddle has been upgraded for 2021 with a carbon fiber shaft in a matte finish. The overall design remains the same and it’s a well-proven, incredibly durable shaft that is fully adjustable from 79 to 86 inches.

iROCKER color-matches its paddles and boards which is a nice touch, and the matte finish on the shaft looks nicer than the previous shinier finish. The blade is the same nylon blade and the handle is the same plastic t-grip used last season.

Full Throttle Pump

A few seasons ago, iROCKER upgraded its standard dual-action pump to a faster, more efficient dual-chamber triple-action model that dramatically reduced the time and effort needed to inflate boards. This season, the company is once again shipping the ALL-AROUND 10′ with the latest version of that pump which is lighter, faster, and easier to use.

iROCKER’s Full Throttle Pump weighs in at only 3.81 pounds and it requires less time and effort to pump the ALL-AROUND 10′ to 15 PSI. It once again comes with a flexible inflation hose that screws on to the rear of the pump and there is a built-in pressure gauge located on the top of the handle which tells you exactly how much air is in your board at all times during the inflation process.

On the rear of the pump is an Action Control dial that allows you to easily change the pump’s mode. There are three settings that you can select by simply turning the dial.

When you first begin to inflate the board, set the adjustable dial to mode #1. In this mode, the pump will rapidly add air to your deflated board on both the up and down strokes using both cylinders.

Once you begin to feel significant resistance, just flip the dial to mode #2. You’ll now bypass one of the cylinders but will continue to inflate the board on both the up and down strokes.

Lastly, when pumping becomes too difficult in mode #2, turn the dial to setting #3. This mode will give you the additional power needed to inflate your board to 15 PSI, as it operates in single-chamber mode and only adds air on the downstrokes.

Leash

In addition to color-matching the SUP paddles, iROCKER also includes a color-coded safety leash with all of its 2021 stand up paddle boards. iROCKER’s 10 foot leash features a durable coiled design and a comfortable ankle cuff. There’s also a hidden key storage pocket with a handy Velcro closure.

Repair Kit

The ALL-AROUND 10′ also comes with an iSUP repair kit. Included is a valve wrench, color-coded PVC repair patches, and three replacement lever lock clips for the board’s removable fins.

Stickers, Quick Start Guide, & User Manual

Lastly, iROCKER includes a nice sticker pack, quick start guide, and user manual which contains lots of helpful advice for setting up and maintaining the ALL-AROUND 10′.

Warranty & Returns Info

The 2021 ALL-AROUND 10′ once again comes with iROCKER’s rock-solid 2-year warranty which covers you in the event of a manufacturer defect. The company also offers a risk-free 60-day money-back guarantee for added peace of mind.

  1. Hi there,
I can’t decide between the 10′ and 11′ All-Around. I’m 5’10” and 170lbs. Is the 11′ a little faster?- I think I would probably like that better for cruising, not planning much surfing. Or should I just get the Cruiser??? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks:)
    Tom

    • Hi Tom, thanks for the comment. You and I are very close in size and out of the three boards you mentioned, I personally prefer the ALL-AROUND 11′. It’s faster than the other two boards while still offering great stability.

      Hope that helps…
