Sea Eagle LongBoard 11 Review: SUP Overview

The Sea Eagle LongBoard 11 is a solid choice for newcomers to the SUP world as well as more advanced paddlers. It’s a board that will work well in a wide variety of situations and water conditions.

In addition to flat water paddling, you can surf moderately-sized waves with the LB11. Due to the board’s good stability, it will even make a good SUP fitness or fishing platform if that’s your thing.

Construction and Design

The LongBoard 11 features ultra-durable PVC drop stitch construction. The board’s 6″ thickness gives it excellent rigidity, and it feels nearly as stiff as a hard board when fully inflated to 15 psi.

Sea Eagle’s drop stitch material consists of thousands of extremely high-strength threads which connect the top and bottom layers of the board’s fabric. This essentially acts like thousands of tiny I-beam supports, increasing the LB11’s rigidity and allowing it to be inflated to a higher pressure than many other inflatable SUPs.

The LB11’s nose has a 4″ rocker which improves the board’s wave entry when surfing, and the board has a subtle board rocker through the center with a 2″ rocker at the tail.

Features

Up top, the Sea Eagle LongBoard 11 features a nice EVA foam diamond deck pad which provides excellent traction. It’s super comfortable to stand on, and has a nice kick tail which helps when performing advanced maneuvers.

Mid-board is a convenient carrying handle which makes it easy to carry the board when it is fully inflated. The middle area of the board also features four stainless steel D-rings for attaching a kayak seat or tying down gear.

In addition to the carry handle at the center of the board, there are also two grab handles located at the board’s nose and tail. These are really handy for pulling the board out of the water.
There are four more D-rings and a bungee cord storage area at the LB11’s nose for securing gear. This is great for stashing your flip flops, dry bag, backpack, or other valuables. Under the bungee cord area, Sea Eagle has also added a SUP Paddle Pocket which allows you to slide in your paddle and secure it to your board.

Located at the very tip of the board’s nose is the air valve. Sea Eagle used a deluxe recessed Halkey Roberts style air valve on the LongBoard 11, and the quality is top-notch.

Last but not least, there’s one additional D-ring located at the board’s tail for attaching a SUP leash.

LB11 Fin Setup

Like many inflatable paddle boards, the Sea Eagle LongBoard 11 features the popular and highly versatile 2+1 fin setup. The two smaller side fins are fixed, while the large center skeg is removable. The center fin has a locking clip and it can be taken on and off the board regardless of whether or not the board is inflated.

The tri-fin setup on the LB11 is nice because it really gives you a lot of options. Paddling in shallow water? Just pop off the large center skeg for additional clearance. If you’re paddling in deeper water and want super straight tracking, just pop it back on.
